The Intraocular Lens "IOL"

First Developed in 1949, it came in many shapes and sizes. Acrysof developed the first foldable lens that sold over 21 million since 1994 and has acheived a high level of satisfaction. First availabel was the monofocol IOL, offering quality distance vision requireing bifocols or reading glasses for near vision was soon replaced by the Acrysof restor lens.

The Restor Lens "IOL"

Acrysof's development of the restor lens enabled cataract patients with or without Presbyopia to see without glasses near and far. 80% infact say they never needed there glasses again day or night reading a book, driving or working on the computer.

The Surgery

The whole procedure takes just a few hours. Most patients resume daily activities after surgery. During surgery, after anesthetic is administered, the cataract will be either broken up or washed away through an incision depending on type of surgery. Then the restor lens or "IOL" is incerted through the same incision. After surgery, eye drops will be used to prevent infection and a follow up visit will be nessesary after 24 hours for your saftey.

Two Types of Surgery

Phacoemulsification

A small instrument is incerted through an incision to break up the cataract.

AquaLase® Liquefaction

A small instrument is incerted through an incision to wash away the cataract.
